About Lakehouse Music Academy

Lakehouse Music Academy (LHMA) is the perfect place for music-loving families. Our progressive music school offers group rehearsals, private lessons, and performances at some of Asbury Park's most iconic venues. We foster a comprehensive musical education for all students of all ages and levels, providing opportunities to learn theory, practice performance, and develop creative skills such as songwriting, production, and engineering. Our alumni have gone on to study at some of the top music programs in the country, including Berklee College of Music, University of the Arts, and Rutgers University. At LHMA students can grow their musical abilities with access to individual and group lessons. We create a unique teaching plan for each student based on their own interests and goals, so they can experience the full breadth of the music world, from theory to performance. They'll also have the chance to explore the business side of music, understanding the marketing and industry side of things. Our team of experienced instructors helps students gain confidence while mastering their craft. We're committed to helping each student reach their goals while having fun along the way. Our students will leave with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in music, or to simply enjoy the joy and power of music in their lives.

Lollies (6 months-3 years)

Children who grow up in a music-enriched environment are better able to understand and enjoy music for the rest of their lives. The most effective way to learn music is by being immersed at a young age in a variety of musical scales, beats, rhythms, and styles. Our interactive program, upbeat music, and engaging activities provide a fun way for adults and children to enjoy class together! While the goal of educating children is serious, the key to success lies in one word...FUN!

Core (11-18 years old)

The Core Program is the Lakehouse flagship teen program, where musicians are formed into groups that rehearse weekly to put on high caliber sets of live music at the Big Gig, which takes place three times per year. In collaboration with their instructor, band members choose, rehearse, and perform challenging and crowd-pleasing material based on their shared musical interests. All Core students receive one 45-minute private lesson and one 2 hour group lesson every week. During their private lessons, students will continue to develop the skills, styles, and techniques needed to perform at a higher level through the Lakehouse Stripes Curriculum, and then apply their knowledge during their group lesson. The Core program accepts all students, regardless of level, style, or instrument. In addition to their weekly rehearsal with their instructor, the Core program is supplemented with guest workshops on performance skills, background/harmony vocals, equipment/stage readiness, and more. Core groups are encouraged to experiment with original music as well. Over the years, Lakehouse Core groups have performed gigs at The Stone Pony, The House of Independents, The Wonder Bar, The Saint, Danny Clinch’s Transparent Gallery, The Asbury Lanes, and many more!

Get Started Ages 6-10 years)

Get Started is a two-hour weekly group rehearsal where young musicians have the opportunity to play in their own Lakehouse Music Academy band for the first time! Carefully planned with a creative curriculum, this program is a fun and low-pressure way for students to jump right in and experience the joy of making music. Absolutely no musical experience is required! Students will receive one half-hour private lesson every week to further understand their instrument and music fundamentals. Three times each year, every Get Started group performs their own set of music at the Big Gig. Graduates will move from the Get Started group and advance into our Core program.
