For 70 years, Camp Walt Whitman has been a family affair. Founded by our family in 1948, we have been providing a warm and supportive environment to campers and staff alike. This has created a true sense of community and connection, with over 90% of campers returning each summer. As the third generation of our family to run the camp, we take immense pride in doing so.
At Camp Walt Whitman, we’ve been creating a close-knit atmosphere for 70 years. From the time our family founded the camp in 1948, we have placed an emphasis on providing a warm and supportive environment for campers and staff. This has resulted in a strong sense of connection and community, with over 90% of campers returning each summer. As the third generation of our family to run the camp, we’re proud to continue providing such an enriching, welcoming atmosphere.
The arts program at Camp Walt Whitman provides multiple outlets for our campers’ creative interests and talents. Professional artists and teachers lead regularly scheduled art classes in separate, well-equipped studios for ceramics, woodworking and crafts. Our Lego Loft and Technology Tent provide additional opportunities for creating. And for artistically inclined campers, daily and weekly elective periods provide even more time to complete projects and explore all of camp’s artistic options.
