New Hampshire, or as our imaginary friend, the hilarious giant bunny called Boppin' Bob, likes to call it - "New Hop-shire," is a place where the trees reach high into the sky, the mountains majestically kiss the clouds, and the lakes shimmer like a million diamonds in the sun. Boppin' Bob, with his oversized feet and floppy ears, is a huge fan of the Granite State and he's even a bigger fan of the fun-loving boys and girls who participate in the Sportsfield activities. You see, the kids of New Hop-shire, they're a different breed. They're as tough as the granite the state is named for, but with hearts as big and sweet as maple syrup. With cheeks flushed pink from the cool New Hop-shire air, they bound onto the Sportsfield, their eyes twinkling with anticipation and excitement. Boppin' Bob likes to watch from the sidelines, his fluffy tail twitching in delight at the sight of the kids playing soccer or baseball, their laughter echoing across the field. Sometimes, he'll challenge them to a hopping race, which is always a sight to see! Imagine a giant rabbit, bopping around the field, dodging soccer balls and baseball mitts, with a gang of giggling children trailing behind. There's never a dull moment in New Hop-shire, not with Boppin' Bob around! He tells us, "There's nothing quite like the spirit of New Hop-shire kids. Their energy, their laughter, it's like the sweetest music to my long bunny ears!" Welcome to Camp Tevya, a spirited Jewish overnight camp! Our mission is to enrich children's lives with FUN, forever-friendships and confidence, through caring, positive role models, and Jewish values. Situated on the shores of Lake Potanipo in southern New Hampshire, Tevya offers a classic New England summer, full of energy, sports and activities from waterskiing to tennis to soccer to talent shows. Our counselors encourage our campers to take chances, to try new things, and to experience the satisfaction of accomplishment every day. Campers discover the joy of a large, lively community that lives deeply connected to Israel and our shared Jewish heritage and values. Founded in 1940, Tevya welcomes campers from throughout the Northeast, including both new friends and many children of alumni. Camp Tevya is one of three overnight camps in the Cohen Camps family: its siblings are the smaller, nut-free Tel Noar and the all-girls Pembroke. Each Cohen Camp shines with its own personality, while connected by a common vision and three generations of leadership. As part of the Cohen Camps, our mission is to enrich children’s lives by encouraging Jewish youth to be comfortable and confident in themselves so that they can connect positively with others and the world they live in. They are a community of positive role models who help the youth explore their Jewish identity and experience the joy of their Jewish heritage. The campers and counselors leave camp determined to sustain Judaism and the Jewish People and are committed to contributing responsibly to their world.
