Merrie-Woode is a traditional wilderness summer camp that offers young women the opportunity to experience an enriching and empowering environment. Nestled among the mountains of North Carolina and surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape, this camp focuses on fostering physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth. Here, girls learn the values of simplified living, make warm personal connections, and gain a deep appreciation for nature.
At Merrie-Woode, campers are able to explore and develop their interests and skills through a wide range of outdoor and indoor activities. The camp offers a non-competitive atmosphere, encouraging campers to set and reach their goals. With each success, girls gain self-confidence and a greater sense of independence.
The camp fun continues well past dark at Merrie-Woode! Each night, after dinner, we all gather together for Evening Program. We might be onstage for various cabin skit nights such as Deck the Counselor or Song & Commercial Night. Some nights, we might be playing BINGO or competing in the camp-wide Scavenger Hunt or ever popular Counselor Hunt! It might be the much anticipated night of the Talent Show or the counselors’ performance of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Sometimes we have guest artists come in to camp to perform. Every Sunday night, we gather together as a community for our weekly Campfire. Whatever the Evening Program, it is sure to be a good time!

JUNIOR COUNSELOR PROGRAM
The JC schedule is different from traditional camper schedules. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, JCs learn leadership skills that will prepare young women for life as a counselor. These skills will also be useful for life as leaders within school and will prepare girls for their college experience. Leadership sessions include teambuilding, information on working with children at different developmental levels, dealing with homesickness, and effective communication techniques. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, JCs will assist in activity areas in order to learn how to effectively teach activities.
The Junior Counselor Program is only offered during our June and Main Sessions. JCs are rising seniors in high school and must be previous CMW campers. Limited JC spaces are available for each session and applicants need to apply before September 15.
