At Charlotte Academy of Music, we recognize how important it is for students to have an environment that promotes learning and music education. Music lessons in the home can be easily interrupted by distractions, which can prevent students from learning effectively. That’s why we offer our students the opportunity to learn in a focused and inspiring environment, surrounded by a musical community. Our students have access to a variety of classes, workshops, ensembles, performances, competitions, and recitals, so they can gain a well-rounded music education experience. Specifically crafted for the younger child, Music Explorers 1 encourages musical making and imaginative play, in music classes for parent and child together. Making music together is the key to your child’s musical growth! Using the premier piano-based early childhood program, KiddyKeys & Company, your child will experience age and developmentally-appropriate movement activities, an introduction to music concepts, singing, and story-time.  At age 3, your child will be excited to move on to Music Explorers 2, where we continue building music literacy and take the next step in piano exploration.

Music Explorers 1  

Music lessons come to life in Music Adventures, our beginning piano classes, where our experienced piano teachers teach our students to play familiar tunes. In each lesson, we advance through notation reading, rhythm skills, and ear training.  Using the piano as our vehicle, Music Adventures paves the way for a smooth transition to private music lessons.  In addition to learning to play the piano, we will focus on really learning how to practice. With only 6 students per class, Music Adventures provides a positive, accepting environment where students feel free to be expressive and develop their creativity. Making music with friends provides built-in motivation, too! We make it easy for parents, too. Your child will leave class each week with a thorough understanding of how to practice their pieces.

Music Adventures (Ages 5-9)

We believe that Theater is a great art form for everyone to explore. In SHINE Musical Theatre productions, classes, and summer camps kids stretch themselves creatively. Our young actors are given so much more than just training in acting, singing, and dancing. They are given confidence, friendships, positive role models, and lasting memories. Our approach is about nurturing the gifts of each individual student and letting their own unique light shine brightly.
