. For over 30 years, the LKSOD Dance Studio has been teaching a variety of dance styles for all ages. Our professional and experienced instructors specialize in Classical Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acro Dance, Pom-Pom, and Pre-School. We are proud to offer lessons to children as young as two years old all the way up to adults! BeAKid
Pointe
Dancing on pointe is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard-toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill and is a central part of the female ballet dancer’s training and repertoire. Pointe is for the technically strong dancer who has advanced to a level in ballet where her body can accept the physical demands of pointe work. Dancers will need to wear a black leotard, pink tights, and pointe shoes (see pointe teacher for specific style of shoe). Fitted shorts or skirts may be worn and hair must be pulled back into a bun. Do not purchase shoes until our pointe teacher has given permission and guidance.

Ages 2-3 Ballet/Creative Movement
This is the first structured parent independent dance program your tiny dancer will be introduced too. The class incorporates movement and dance while using colorful props and fun music. Your tiny toddler will learn basic tumbling skills on the mats, practice balance on the balance beam, and learn basic ballet terminology. This class will begin with an imaginative warm-up and then move to center and across the floor movement that emphasize motor skills and creativity through basic ballet movements. This class is a great way for toddlers to learn to follow directions and wait for his or her turn, as well as to gain social skills, confidence, and independence. These dancers will perform a ballet routine in the end of year recital. Dancers may wear any color leotard, pink tights, and pink leather ballet slippers.

Ages 6-7 Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Jazz, Ballet/Hip-Hop
These classes are perfect for dancers who are just learning to dance or who aren’t ready for a full 2 hours of dance yet. These classes focus on getting students ready to transition from combination type of dance classes to full hour classes in a specific style of dance. Ballet class will include more challenging barre exercises while emphasizing basic terminology. The tap class will concentrate on developing intricate patterns and rhythms while learning classical tap steps. The Jazz class will begin to develop students flexibility and balance skills while dancing to fun upbeat, age appropriate music. In the Hip-Hop class, dancers will get to move! They will learn fun combinations while also working on skills needed to be a good dancer. Dancers may wear a leotard of any color, pink tights, and pink leather ballet slippers. Students will need black jazz shoes for jazz, black tap shoes for tap, and CLEAN (shoes only worn for dance class & aren’t worn outside) sneakers for hip-hop. Hair must be pulled back and secured. Dancers should bring a dance bag to keep their belongings in so nothing gets lost when changing from ballet slippers to either tap, jazz, or hip-hop shoes. Don’t forget to write their name on everything!
