About Movie Makers in Durham, NC

Movie Makers is the perfect resource for children, teens and adults to develop their movie making skills. We offer a wide range of workshops and camps to help refine existing talents or learn new ones. Our experienced instructors provide guidance on all aspects of movie making, from the production side to the performers. Movie Makers is dedicated to helping children, teens and adults of all abilities learn the art of movie making. Our camps and workshops are tailored to individual skill levels and interests. Our knowledgeable staff will provide guidance and support to ensure that everyone gets the most out of their experience. Since 2001, we have been helping our students develop the skills to become the next generation of movie makers.

Programs at Movie Makers in Durham, NC

BeAKid
Movie Making Ages 6-17.

At Movie Makers, kids work together to create their very own video movie. Each week our movie makers will participate in the writing, directing, acting and camera work to create their very own movie. Throughout the class we’ll create our story, develop our characters, design sets, even work on costumes and make-up. Then we’ll get a crash course in camera work and filming techniques using digital video equipment.

BeAKid
Acting Ages 7 - Adult

Studio A has Beginning & Intermediate/Advanced classes available for a wide range of ages. Students will focus on text work for theater and film. They will learn and practice techniques by Stanislavski, Meisner, Uta Hagen, Stella Adler, and Lee Strasberg. They will study famous playwrights, ranging from the classics to the modern, as well as material from TV and Film. Through demonstrations, exercises, masks, text work and more, students will develop advanced acting skills for both theater and film. The classes will also focus on audition skills, cold readings and the business side of acting. Students will work on camera several times throughout the session, learning the differences between film and theater.
