Mountain Roots is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting people to the outdoors and to their community. Through outdoor education, day camp, and workshops by request, we offer opportunities to explore nature and build meaningful relationships. Our focus is on sustainable living and creating a better world for generations to come. We invite you to join us in unlocking the potential of the outdoors. Outdoor Education School Programs

Mountain Roots teaches hands-on outdoor learning experiences that connect K-8 students to the outdoor spaces in their backyards. Our programs provide intentional opportunities for students to learn in an experiential way during their school day. Our interdisciplinary curriculum enhances classroom learning and incorporates exploration and active play into every lesson.

Preschool Camp: Ages 4 & 5

What to Expect:Preschool Camp is a half-day experience for curious 4 & 5 year olds. Your camper will connect with their peers and the world around them through songs, story-telling, games, hands-on activities, and exploratory play. Nurturing counselors lead campers through engaging, educational adventures while encouraging active, healthy lifestyles. Campers can expect to learn about a new theme each week while engaging in nature, music, art, community, and gardening activities.

Full Day Camp: Rising 1st-5th Grade*

What to Expect: This full-day camp incorporates experiential educational adventures and classic camp fun! Mountain Roots Day Camp intertwines outdoor play, nature, and community service with the arts. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable counselors support campers and help them connect with Western North Carolina's community and natural spaces. Your camper can expect to be physically active all day, and be challenged with new themes each week.
