At Camp Lakey Gap, we provide a week-long residential camp for people with autism. Our experienced staff is trained to incorporate evidence-based strategies for supporting people with autism into all elements of our program. We understand that everyone has unique patterns of strengths and needs, and our goal is to help campers and staff to learn to understand each other and themselves. We are proud to be a part of our campers' and staffs' journeys and to have had a positive impact on their lives.
We understand that many people with autism prefer routines and predictability in their daily life, and that a summer camp program can be a difficult adjustment. We provide 1:1 or 1:2 support for all campers to help make the transition to camp easier and to meet each camper where they are. All activities are adapted so that campers will understand expectations and be able to participate as independently as possible.
