BeAKid
Drawing 101 Kids' Summer Camp
So you like to draw but want to improve at it. Okay, let's make that happen! Kids will work on exercises involving value shading, portraits, contour lines, and perspective. We will introduce you to 2 or 3 projects daily. These basics will help to build concrete grounds for an understanding of how to improve your artwork. We will work primarily in graphite; if time permits, students can add color with the medium of their choice. Figure drawing will come into play with our Mange character segment. Each artist's work will be a reflection of their own preferences, including their favorite animal drawings! A Gallery Show of our artwork will be extended to families following class on the final day! Taught by Artist/Instructor Pamela Palmer B.F.A., Owner/Entrepreneur of The Artist's Apprentice. Ages 7 & up (Siblings are always welcome!) $60 fee due to instructor on the first day of class.

Acrylic Painting 101 Summer Camp
Come join us on these sunny summer afternoons as we explore the fascinating medium of Acrylic Painting! We will begin by learning how the different brushes are used to create various strokes, including a lesson on the use of a pallet knife. Working on canvas, let's see what brush is the perfect match for making animal fur. Kids will select the animal friend of their particular preference and work from a photo reference. Bring in a photo of your fuzzy pet if you wish! Our young artists will be working from nature on other substrates as well. We will explore the modern seascapes of our featured famous, acrylic artist, Timothy Mulligan! Kids will learn to use essential shapes, create luscious planes of color, and use colorful lines to separate shapes, creating a halo effect. Register today, the class size is limited! A Gallery Show of our students' artwork will be extended to families following class on the final day! Taught by Artist/Instructor Pamela Palmer B.F.A., Owner/Entrepreneur of The Artist's Apprentice. Looking for a fun and creative summer activity for your child? Look no further than our Kids Clay Camp at Orion Art Center! This exciting camp runs from July 25-27 and is perfect for young artists who are interested in exploring the world of pottery. Over the course of three days, campers will learn all about hand-building techniques, including coils, slabs, and score and slip methods. With the guidance of our experienced instructors, your child will create unique and personalized ceramic pieces that they can be proud of.
