Sir Squirrelly, with his acorn-shaped hat and goggles, is no ordinary squirrel. He has a tail so fluffy it could be mistaken for a cloud, and a laugh so infectious, even the grumpiest beaver can't resist a chuckle. Squirrelington, a knighted rodent with a knack for nuttiness, leads the Mitten Munchkins on expeditions across the state, from the sandy dunes of Sleeping Bear to the towering lighthouses dotting the coast. The Mitten Munchkins, armed with their trusty magnifying glasses and wild imaginations, traverse from Detroit’s bustling urban jungle to the serene beauty of the Upper Peninsula. Each Munchkin has a heart filled with pure Michigander grit and a rucksack full of unbeatable enthusiasm for discovery. When they're not trying to figure out if Mackinaw Island fudge can be used as a viable fuel source for their jetpacks, they're busy tracking down the elusive Jackalope in the forests of Kalamazoo. With Sir Squirrelly leading the way, every day is filled with laughter, learning, and a touch of the unexpected. In the state of Michigan, the Mitten Munchkins make every day an exploration, and every exploration an unforgettable adventure packed with giggles, knowledge and the magic of camaraderie. For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
Camp Michawana provides a unique opportunity to plant the Word of God into the lives of children, teens, church groups, and families. From summer programs and rental camps to retreats, there is something for everyone! Our heated facilities can accommodate up to 240 guests in the fall and spring and 175 guests in the winter. During the summer, we offer overnight residential camp weeks for ages 6-17, allowing them to learn more about the Bible and strengthen their faith. At Camp Michawana, we prioritize the spiritual growth of all our campers, hoping to help them know Christ as their Savior and become confident in their faith. Our summer programs, rental camps, and retreats provide the perfect setting for guests of all ages to strengthen their spiritual journey, as well as have an amazing time! Our heated facilities make it possible for us to welcome up to 240 guests in the fall and spring and 175 in the winter.
