We are the premier dance studio for dancers in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop in the Lansing area, offering classes from preschool through adults.

DANCE

At The Studio, using CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music) methodology mixed with classical basics, we emphasize personal development of the solo singer.  This means focusing not only on the functional work of singing but also the interpretative reasons for a song as well. Vowels are wider and more forward (Musical theatre “speak style”), open (in contrast to choral blending and closed vowels for classical singing) and a “mixed voice” or “one voice” with no audible break in registers is the goal. 

SING

to be a good actor, one must cultivate a lot of skills including good vocal projection, clarity of speech, physical expressiveness, a good sense of perspective, emotional vulnerability, a well-developed imagination, the ability to analyze and understand text, the ability to create emotional and physical conditions and the ability to be spontaneous and focused “in the moment”. All these skills are continuously developing during acting classes.

My daughter's self-esteem has grown over the course of her two years at The Studio.  Every week, she looks forward to her classes. Pk puts her heart and soul into this place, and it's a fun place for kids!

The Studio is a fantastic place to learn and dance. Rather than competition or showing off, the school focuses on developing one's skills as a performing artist. Students will receive a solid and detail-oriented dance foundation before progressing to a pre-professional level. PK, the instructor, is a skilled and personable dance instructor. She respects her students and strives to educate and motivate them to do better. Overall, 5/5 would dance there again.
