About Salt Pump Climbing Company

Salt Pump is the premier center for climbing and adventure in southern Maine. Our mission is to provide our community with the best in climbing, adventure and good living. We strive to embody the core values of the outdoors world in everything we do. Introductory courses are available on a regular basis to give climbers a solid foundation of the fundamentals of climbing. Our courses cover all the basics of bouldering, belayed top-rope climbing, and auto-belays. We also teach the fundamentals of ground-up climbing and provide simple techniques to make climbing safer and more enjoyable. Custom times and private instruction for all our courses are available by request. At Salt Pump, we are dedicated to providing our community with the best in climbing, adventure and good living. Our mission is to ensure that the core values of the outdoors world are always reflected in our activities. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced climber in need of private instruction, Salt Pump is sure to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

SCRAMBLERS: GRADES K - 2
Scramblers are introduced to climbing through a variety of activities that have been known to keep even the most energetic climbers on their toes. They enjoy games both on and off the climbing wall, knot-tying, and lots of laughter!

MOUNTAINEERS: GRADES 3 - 5
Mountaineers learn the basic fundamentals of climbing including knot-tying, belaying, and movement skills. The group works together as a team to complete on the wall challenges through a variety of games and activities.

CLIMBING CLUB: GRADES 6 - 8
Climbing Club is for pre-teens and teens who want to explore climbing in a supervised yet low-key atmosphere. Short classes in topics like rappelling and building anchors provide learning opportunities and help prepare climbers for future adventures.
