Leading them is the whimsically wild and wacky Wilbur Whiskerwig. Yep, you heard right! Wilbur Whiskerwig, the only moose in Maine (or the world, for that matter) who directs plays with an antler-entwined director's megaphone. With his booming voice that can out-roar the fiercest of Maine's black bears and his theatrical flair that dazzles brighter than the easternmost sunrise at Quoddy Head, Wilbur helps the kids create the most mesmerizing performances. The Drama Dynamos are a hodgepodge of incredible kiddo-talent, from the shy Sammy, whose impersonation of a chirping seagull could fool any seasoned fisherman, to Bella, who can perform pirouettes as gracefully as a fall leaf pirouetting down from a towering pine! Under Wilbur's tutelage, this fanciful flock of young dreamers lights up the stage, bringing laughter, awe, and the occasional happy tear to the faces of their adoring audiences. What began in a humble New York City apartment with just a single student, Spark, has since blossomed into an enriching program impacting thousands of children. Our unique educational approach combines the elements of art, yoga, meditation, and nature to create a holistic learning environment. With an array of offerings to accommodate various schedules and needs, Spark has something for everyone. Our services extend beyond the standard after school and weekend classes to include holiday and summer camps, birthday parties, portfolio preparation, private classes, and custom pods. We also welcome homeschool groups and are thrilled to announce the recent addition of a forest school program to our repertoire. You can find Spark on-site in various schools and at our main studio located in the Upper West Side. But we're not stopping there - we're also planning to expand to the Upper East Side and Brooklyn. For our families in Pennsylvania, we run the program from our family studio there. And if you're not in close proximity to any of our locations, don't worry. We offer in-home instruction and virtual options to ensure that Spark can reach you, no matter where you are. It is the foundation of who we are as a camp, and it allows us to help each camper become the best version of themselves. The RICHS represent the moral fabric of our community and we strive every day to highlight these qualities in each camper. At North Star, there’s no award for most popular camper or best athlete. Instead, each summer we “recognize” the campers that best display each of these five values. One of our goals is for campers to not only live their life at camp by the RICHS, but for it to become their own personal value system at home.
