At Camp Mataponi, we believe in building skills and friendships that will last a lifetime. Our girls benefit from a carefully planned program that includes outdoor activities, team sports, creative arts, waterfront adventures and more. Campers are also encouraged to explore our natural surroundings and discover the wonders of the Maine outdoors. Our experienced staff is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing and fun-filled environment where girls can build self-confidence and self-esteem while making memories to last a lifetime.
Schedule: A structured block schedule peppered with one daily individual choice elective enables our youngest campers to experience new activities they may not initially choose on their own. Uniquely designed for our Junior campers, pre-breakfast “morning ski” provides an ideal setting for learning to ski on glass-like conditions before the rest of the camp awakens.
Trips (Juniors): Canoe and camp out to our very own island (1 mile from the shores of Mataponi). Sleep in tents, cook over the campfire, sing songs and roast marshmallows for coveted s’mores makes this the PERFECT introduction to camping under the stars.
Trips (Middie A’s): Embark on a 1 night/2 day camping trip to the White Mountains of New Hampshire where they hike waterfalls, play at Cranmore Adventure park and sleep overnight in tents at Glen Ellis campgrounds.

Middie B’s & Inters (Grades 5-7)
Schedule: A structured block schedule peppered with two daily individual choice electives enables our middle school-aged campers to steer the direction of their schedule while maintaining a balance between core programming and choice.
Trips (Middie B’s): Embark on a 1 night/2 day camping trip to the White Mountains of New Hampshire where they hike waterfalls, visit Attitash Adventure park and sleep overnight in tents at Glen Ellis campgrounds.
Trips (Inter A’s): Exciting 2 night/3 day camping trip to Bar Harbor-Acadia National Park. Memorable excursions hiking through the park, participating in the Tina Lumberjack show, Diver Ed’s underwater extravaganza, and site seeing touristy Bar Harbor makes this one of the highlights of the Inter A summer.
Trips (Inter B’s): A tradition for almost two decades, this is an unforgettable 4-day trip to Old Montreal. Campers and staff will boat down the rapids of the St. Lawrence River, visit La Ronde Six Flags, tour the old port of Montreal, enjoy dinners out, the movies and more. Hotel accommodations are owned/operated by an alumni Mataponi family.

Subs & Seniors (Grades 8-10)
As the oldest campers at Mataponi, the Subs and Seniors are given leadership responsibilities throughout the summer. By building confidence and teamwork as well as fortifying individual growth, these leadership initiatives culminate with weekly camp events that are lead by our Senior campers. Community service participation is encouraged and expected at this age with in-house and out of camp projects designed specifically for our Subs and Seniors in and around our community.
Schedule: A structured block schedule continues during these final two summers at camp. Choice electives, however, are more freely created for our oldest campers to further encourage and strengthen each camper’s personal interests and individuality.
Trips (Subs): The much anticipated 1 night/2 day hike to the summit of Mount Washington instills a pinnacle bonding experience that simply cannot be replicated. The confidence that is gained, the encouragement that is provided amongst one another and the inspiration that comes from this adventure is embraced to the fullest by the Sub campers.
Trips (Seniors): A 2 night/ 3 days White Water Rafting trip down the Kennebec River seals the Senior summer as one of the most magical seasons yet to be experienced.
