About Camp Runoia in Belgrade, ME
Bringing camping experiences to girls since 1907, Camp Runoia offers activities such as horseback riding, sailing, waterskiing, swimming, arts and crafts, and much more. Our exciting wilderness trip program takes girls throughout the state of Maine for overnight hiking and canoeing trips. Girls at Camp Runoia can explore their interests and cultivate their skills while learning to work together in a supportive and nurturing environment. Programs at Camp Runoia in Belgrade, ME
BeAKid
Batik
Batik is a wax and paint process on linen creating beautiful patterns within the subject. Batiks made at Runoia make amazing wall hangings at home. Frameable and showcase art work from Runoia is a goal we meet in our arts and crafts classes! For batik class, you will choose your own design and size of your batik. Once your image is chosen, you will sketch or draw your image on the stretched linen. After you've sketched the image you apply the wax with a fine paint brush. Using paint brushes, you color your image as you envision. The final product involves ironing the wax out of the cloth leaving your image with unique lines and effects. You will proudly hang your batik on your family's living room wall or frame it and give it as a special gift!

Riding through the woods on our camp mountain bike trails is so much fun. Learn to safely handle your bike on different terrain and have a blast cruising along in the fresh air.

Ropes & Climbing
The challenge course at Runoia gives you the chance to find success and a profound sense of achievement on high and low ropes elements. Beyond individual success, you also learn important life skills with the teambuilding challenges where you solve situations together in a fun scenario posed by your counselor. Separate from our challenge course, Runoia also has a awesome climbing tower, staffed by certified instructors. Start with simple goals of learning technique and route planning. Reach the top and ring the bell heard all across camp! The top is forty feet high and you can feel great about yourself no matter how high you climb! You may also have a chance to fly through the air on the "Dragonfly" zipline.
