In a place where lobsters and baseball are revered, where autumn leaves paint the landscape in magnificent hues, and where a certain tea party played a critical role in shaping history - there you'll find the magical state of Massachusetts. Nestled in the heart of New England, this state is not only home to some of the finest clam chowder and the world-renowned Boston Marathon, it's also a bustling hub of STEM/STEAM activity. Meet our friend, Gizmo the Geeky Grasshopper. Gizmo is no ordinary grasshopper, oh no! He sports a pair of funky glasses, carries a tiny beaker, and is often seen zooming across the state on his mini rocket-powered skateboard, visiting the numerous libraries, museums, and schools. Gizmo is all about STEM/STEAM. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics are his partners in crime, and together they make learning a grand adventure for all the kids in Massachusetts. Gizmo and the kids are always up to something fun and educational. Whether they're coding a new video game, building miniature robots, or painting mathematical masterpieces, they are continually exploring ways to merge creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. Much like the state they live in, these kids are a blend of history and modernity, tradition and innovation. Together, they laugh, learn, and make the occasional explosion (all in the name of science, of course). And at the end of the day, they've made Massachusetts not just the birthplace of American liberty, but also a rising star in the universe of STEM/STEAM. So, if you ever find yourself in the midst of this buzzing hive of creativity, don't be surprised if you encounter a bunch of inspired kids, led by a geeky grasshopper, excitedly discussing their next big project!

Rainbow Child Development Center (RCDC) provides a safe haven for 250 of Worcester’s most at-risk children, aged 6 weeks to 13 years. The three programs - Family Child Care, Preschool, and Extended Learning School Age Program - are designed to give these children the positive experiences they need to grow and thrive. The Center’s staff and community partners collaborate to offer innovative programs that help to improve the lives of children and their families. Each program is tailored to the individual needs of each child, and helps to build self-esteem and academic success. The Center also offers a variety of healthy lifestyle and nutrition programs, such as cooking classes and gardening projects. Last summer, preschoolers were able to enjoy a harvest of tomatoes, peppers, basil, squash, and broccoli that they had planted and cared for themselves. The after-school program also featured a nutrition series facilitated by the UMass Food Extension Program. RCDC is an invaluable resource for the City of Worcester, providing a high return on investment for the community.
