Children's Programs (Ages 2 - 7)

Ballet Basics This class is the first full hour ballet class for our young dancers. Ballet Basics at Charlotte Klein Dance Centers serves as the full introduction to classical ballet technique. This class will deepen your child’s knowledge of ballet-specific terminology, movements and overall style. Tap / Jazz The Tap/Jazz class offered at Charlotte Klein Dance Centers is exactly how it sounds – this class is a combination of tap and jazz. Unlike our other introductory dance classes, this class does not focus on ballet movements or terminology. Instead, the dancers will have 30 minutes of tap, working on musicality, rhythm, articulation of sounds and terminology; and 30 minutes of jazz, where they will begin stretching and learning the basics of jazz dance. Terrific Twos Do you have a little one who loves to move when they hear music? Maybe they’re always hopping around your living room, or wiggling in their car seat to the tunes on the radio. If you said “yes,” then consider this class for your terrific two-year-old!

Jazz All Levels Jazz emerged from many different dance styles, including tap dance, swing dance, and even African tribal dance. As a popular social dance in the United States that transformed into a theatre-based style, jazz dance continues to evolve as dancers and choreographers experiment with new movement paired with popular music of the times. Unlike tap dance, jazz style does follow strict syncopation, accenting the beats within the music with purposeful movement. Acro / Stretch This class is designed to complement the dance training received at Charlotte Klein Dance Centers. Formally known as Acrobatic dance, this style fuses basic ballet technique with gymnastic elements and balancing moves. Acro dance emphasizes smooth, graceful transitions from dancing to each acrobatic move, and focuses on movement with incorporated feats of agility and motor coordination. Modern The modern dance program at Charlotte Klein Dance Centers helps our students to become more emotionally connected and grounded in their dancing. In our modern dance class, the dancers will learn the foundations of Horton and Limón techniques to express their feeling through their movement and learn to connect with the floor.
