The goal of the program is to provide a high-quality, private music lesson experience to students from Greater Worcester who would not otherwise be able to afford this opportunity. The program offers weekly, low cost, private music lessons taught by an experienced music faculty. The lessons are tailored to the individual student's needs and include a variety of instruments, including strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion.
All Saints Church and the Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester continue to partner in providing a dynamic music education experience to all students enrolled in the Afternoon Tunes program. Through this opportunity, students are provided with the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument and develop their musical skills in a supportive and nurturing environment. The program also nurtures long-term mentorship relationships that will continue to benefit the students in the years to come.
Afternoon Tunes works collaboratively with area high schools, colleges, and music schools to recruit teachers, who offer lessons on piano, violin, saxophone, guitar, flute, and drums, as well as a group recorder class. The group class is open both to students in private lessons and students on the program’s waiting list. We currently serve 50 students, with 30 in private lessons and the rest in recorder classes.
