Since its start over 75 years ago, the Woods Hole Child Center has been providing quality early childhood education to the Falmouth community. The founders, three wives of WHOI scientists, were looking for a place of support and care for their families and created the first class of 8 children for only $2.50 per week. In 1952, Mr. F.V. Lawrence donated land on Harbor Hill Road for a permanent home, and the building was renovated in 2007 with families contributing to the effort. The Child Center has evolved in the years since its founding, but its commitment to providing a supportive community for young families remains unwavering.
