At Overland, we believe that the journey is as important as the destination. Our summer trips are designed to give young people the opportunity to work together in small groups to accomplish something of personal significance. Whether it’s climbing a mountain, biking a coast, or learning a new language, we provide the support and guidance needed to make the experience a success.
Our seven introductory trips feature a wide range of fun outdoor activities — including day hikes, bike rides on car-free rail trails, water activities like kayaking, canoeing, and rafting (with professional guides), and introductory rock climbing (with skilled instructors) — all designed for the interests and abilities of our youngest students. You can count on us to provide capable, caring leaders — terrific role models who are eager to create an environment that is as supportive and wholesome as it is adventurous. And we carefully craft our groups with just twelve students (big enough for lots of fun, small enough for careful supervision), a narrow age range, and a balance of genders.

Hiking Trips Grade 7-12
Hike through wilderness meadows, along mountain streams, and over rocky passes. Off the trail, sea kayak, whitewater raft, and rock climb. No matter where you go with Overland, you'll be on a thoughtfully planned trip with dynamic leaders and a fun group (and our groups are the best: there's never more than twelve students, and there's always a balance of genders, a range of hometowns, and a limit on friend pairs). Each of our hiking trips offers adventure, exploration, and new friendships in some of the world’s most beautiful mountain settings.

Overland's Bike Trips Grade 6-12
There's a wide range of bike trips to choose from, everything from an introductory trip across Cape Cod to an epic six-week adventure that crosses the U.S. from coast-to-coast. Other Overland bike trips explore Nova Scotia, the Canadian Rockies, the Pacific Coast, and Europe from Munich to Barcelona. Choose your location (East Coast, Maritime Canada, Rockies, West Coast, or Europe), a number of weeks (two, three, or six), and challenge level (introductory, moderate, or challenging) to find the trip that's the best fit for you. And here's what the trips have in common: terrific leaders, great trip mates, and just about the most fun you could imagine as you see the world's beauty from the seat of your bicycle. Open roads invite you, friends surround you, and the horizon awaits.

Language Trips Grade 8-10
Each language trip offers an ideal mix of instruction (daily three-hour classes led by native speakers) and adventure. In Costa Rica, it's service and cultural experiences (exploring small towns and villages); in the Alps, it's daily hikes in one of the world's most beautiful mountain settings. A supportive, wholesome group of students and two caring Overland leaders create a dynamic environment for language learning and active summer adventures.
