Activities in Wellfleet
In 1976, a group of devoted Wellfleet parents came together to form the Wellfleet Preschool Playgroup. For over thirty years, the school provided quality preschool education to the area, until state cutbacks forced its closure in 2008. Luckily, a year later, a group of determined local mothers took it upon themselves to fill the gap left by the school's closure by founding the Wellfleet Montessori Preschool. This school offers an alternative learning environment for preschoolers of the Lower Cape, and is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for children to develop their natural curiosity and unleash their potential. The teachers strive to be role models of respect, kindness, and responsibility, and to guide their students on their journey of discovering and appreciating their individual gifts and interests.
At Wellfleet Bay Nature Camp, we strive to cultivate a lifelong love of nature in every camper. Campers ages four to thirteen can explore the 1,100-acre wildlife sanctuary of Cape Cod, making friends and having fun along the way. We emphasize environmental awareness and responsibility, and emphasize the importance of nature being accessible to all. Our dedicated staff work hard to make sure the campers have an unforgettable outdoor experience. We believe that the lessons learned at Wellfleet Bay Nature Camp will stay with our campers for years to come. As a result, they will have a deeper appreciation for the environment and its importance for all. The campers will also gain an appreciation for the special place that is Cape Cod and will be empowered to protect and care for the environment. Ultimately, our goal is to provide campers with an experience that will stay with them forever. We want them to have fun, make friends, and explore nature while also learning about its importance. We hope that our campers will go on to share their newfound appreciation for nature with their families and friends, and continue to take part in activities that are good for the environment.
