Once, he claimed to have seen a rainbow-colored whale that spat out colorful water jets, which he used to paint his ship! But what Doodle loves most is inspiring the kids. He teaches them how to see the fantastic in the ordinary, how a simple box could be a rocket to the moon, or a paper plate could be a warrior's mighty shield. Founded in 1923 by Jewish union activists in New York City, Camp Kinderland has been a place for working-class families to escape the city for over three-quarters of a century. Through its program, Kinderland celebrates the labor movement and other progressive causes. Over the years, the camp has honored and celebrated the International Brigades in Spain, anti-fascist efforts in the World War II era, economic reform, and the civil rights and anti-war movements. Camp Kinderland is a living testament to the values of social justice and progressive secular Jewish roots.
