and get creative with our activities. With a longer afternoon, students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities and grow their social and emotional skills while building relationships with others.
At SED, we strive to create a safe and supportive environment for our students. We understand that not every student learns the same way or in the same way. That's why we provide a range of activities that are both fun and engaging, from crafting to gym games to ping pong and Catan. We also make sure that students get a chance to get some fresh air and socialize, often playing in the woods or using our lounge area to hang out with friends. We believe that the extra time we have with our students, compared to our elementary school programs, allows us to create an atmosphere where students can explore, learn, and grow.

Curtis
On Fridays at Curtis, we tend to have a smaller and much more intimate program. Also, heading into the weekend we don’t hold a formal “Homework Time.” Because of this, we work on coming together more as a community; the program has been doing “Fun Fridays” for the past few years. Some of the activities have included Bingo, Jeopardy, Let’s Make A Deal and some Community Service projects as well. While participation is optional, of course, we have about 95% participation of our Friday students in our Fun Friday activities. The students seem to really enjoy themselves.
