About Springfield Girls Club Family Center in Springfield, MA

The Boys & Girls Club Family Center has been a part of the Springfield community for over a century. During this time, it has adapted to the changing needs of the community and continues to provide a safe haven and support for families and children. The mission of the Club is to help all young people, especially those in need, reach their fullest potential as responsible and caring citizens. To ensure this mission is met, the Club is supervised by a Board of Directors, with Board President Tonya Ward in charge and Executive Director Keshawn Dodds overseeing day to day operations.

Programs at Springfield Girls Club Family Center in Springfield, MA

BeAKid
pre-school program

Our pre-school program offers a well-balanced day filled with art, computer, music & movement, basic introduction to a foreign language (Spanish), library time and a sports program. The children attend off-site field trips related to the curriculum as well as on-site field trips. Our outdoor playground and center facilities encourages large gross motor play and social activities structured around the concept of “peace through play.”

AFTER SCHOOL

Project Extra Plus is a state-licensed school-age child care program available to parents who work or are in school and need daily out-of-school child care. A typical program schedule includes homework help and tutoring, social recreation, crafts, sports, computer training and swimming. The Boys Girls Club Family Center offers In-House Subsidies as well as vouchers from New England Farm Workers. These programs are available to children ages 5 to 12. Transportation to and from the Center is available. Snacks are provided.

Teen Program

Socialize with friends, dance, swim, play basketball or work out. Learn karate, archery or double dutch. Watch a movie. Play chess or enjoy painting and other opportunities for creative expression. Access the computer lab for homework assistance, resume writing, college and job application completion or apply for academic scholarships. Take advantage of community service opportunities for school.
