About Parts and Crafts

At Parts and Crafts, we offer a makerspace and community workshop in Somerville, MA. We believe that kids should have the opportunity to think, make, learn, and do through the exploration of the arts, science, computer programming, and engineering. We refer to this as “the creative application of technical skills”. We strive to create a supportive environment where kids can gain competency in basic tool use and work on creative projects in a safe and enriching environment. At Parts and Crafts, we are passionate about inspiring kids to use their imaginations, explore their interests, and develop a love of learning. We strive to create a space that encourages kids to think outside the box and gain new skills while creating something unique. Whether it’s learning to use a saw and drill, understanding the basics of coding, or creating a work of art, our programs will help your child develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Summer Programs

Girls Invention - A tinkering camp for girl-identified kids aged 7-13. We’ll solder, sew, play, code, draw, dance and create! Parts and Crafts Arcade - We’re excited to use our engineering skills to create arcade and carnival games to share with the world! We’ll make giant board games, cardboard arcades, marble mazes, electronic puzzles and learn how to code classic arcade games in Scratch. At the end of the week we’ll invite family and friends to visit the Parts and Crafts Midway.

VIRTUAL STEAM WORKSHOPS

We offer one-time and on-going STEAM workshops for your classroom, program or school. Scratch, coding, TinkerCad electronics, cardboard engineering, stop motion animation, virtual bird-watching, computer graphics, crafts, Minecraft and more. We can also create custom workshops to complement classroom learning.

Level Up! July Workshops for Teens aged 13 & 14

Welcome to Level Up! These program are designed for kids that have aged out of the activities at regular camp and want to spend a week doing a deep dive into a subject with smaller group of kids their own age. These programs are for kids aged 13 & 14.
