Programs at Bellwether Stables in Pittsfield, MA
BeAKid
I.E.A.(Interscholastic Equestrian Association)
The IEA provides opportunities for riders in grades 6=4 – 12 to show at one of four ability levels. There is NO NEED to own a horse to participate in IEA. We have found the program to be valuable to our riders in several ways. First, it brings a “team” aspect to an otherwise very individual sport. Second, every rider that participated in IEA has improved their riding skills. Third, it is a wonderful opportunity to visit many other local stables and ride a wide variety of horses. Fourth, it is a valuable resume-builder for any student hoping to ride at the college level. The regular IEA season starts on September 1st and ends at Zone Finals held on April 1st and 2nd. The team commitment involves riding in two lessons per week and competing in 5 IEA shows during the season.

Shows
The most low-key are our in-house student horse shows. These are casual horse shows that are inexpensive and have no formal attire requirements. These shows allow first-time competitors to sample the process of horse showing in a friendly environment. The next level of showing is with our local association, the WNE PHA (Western New England Professional Horseman’s Association). We travel to many local shows that allow our riders to accumulate points with this association. We also host three WNE PHA-rated horse shows here at Bellwether each year.

Summer Riding Program
Each summer we offer 4 to 5 weeks of our Summer Riding Program. This very popular program allows our students 5 full days of riding and horse-related activities. Riders are divided into small groups by riding level to maximize their riding experience. The hours of the program are 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.
