Recreational Gymnastics

All YMCA youth classes focus on teaching the fundamentals of teamwork and sportsmanship while reinforcing the importance of listening, taking turns and following directions while learning new skills. The Hampshire Regional YMCA’s recreational gymnastics program includes classes for children who are crawling through 12 years of age. Our instructors teach progressive gymnastics skills in a motivating and encouraging environment while promoting the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

School Age Swim Lessons (6-12 years)

Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique, developing skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being, and foster, and foster a lifetime of physical activity. In Stroke Introduction, Stroke Development, and Stroke Mechanics, swimmers are introduced to the four competitive swimming strokes as well as rescue skills and healthy lifestyles.

Parent/Child Swim Lessons

Parents and children come together to learn and grow in Parent/Child water discovery classes. Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be more comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
