At New England Montessori School (NEMS), we strive to provide a preschool experience that is as well-rounded as possible. Our conveniently located North Andover, Massachusetts school offers a unique curriculum that combines traditional influences with Montessori principles. 

The primary goal of NEMS is to create an environment in which young children can feel safe, secure, and loved. We foster this atmosphere by treating children with respect and setting realistic and consistent limits, while fostering an environment that meets their development needs. 

Our curriculum features thematic units each month, such as "All About Me," "Pumpkins & Apples," and "Winter Wonderland." Through these units, children learn language arts, science, geography, and math. Our teachers strive to make the learning process fun and engaging, so that children can make the most of their experience.

Each classroom also incorporates educational areas for Montessori lessons. Our Montessori Materials are broken down into different categories such as Practical Life (fine motor development), Language, Math, Culture & Science, Sensorial (blocks and geometrics), and Geography. These areas are filled with materials that the children enjoy exploring each day. This is where the children are able to make independent choices of what their mind desires to do. The freedom of choice is a vital factor in the Montessori system.

Each classroom is created for the child. We have literacy rich environments where students are given the opportunity to work with letter journals, circle times, projects, individual lessons, whole group activity and of course recess! Gross motor time is a part of our daily curriculum. We thoroughly enjoy being outside on our playground running, climbing and playing with friends. Social emotional growth might be the most important part of preschool. We focus on these skills all year.

Outside each classroom our teachers post newsletters, weekly curriculum grids and class schedules. These communication boards are helpful with keeping parents and teachers connected.

I wholeheartedly endorse this to anyone who wishes to provide their child the best possible upbringing in a loving, caring, and creative environment.

My guys had the nicest time while spending three years at NEMS together. The staff genuinely loves the kids and is very kind, nurturing, and loving! My kids were more than prepared to start kindergarten right away! I can't express how wonderful this adorable little school is enough!
