About Temple Beth Avodah in Newton, MA

My husband Mark and I joined Temple Beth Avodah over 20 years ago when we were looking for a Jewish education for our daughters Marissa and Jocelyn. We were immediately welcomed into the warm and inclusive community and have been part of the temple ever since. We have been blessed to witness all the life cycle events of our family and to celebrate our daughters’ B'nei Mitzvot and Midrasha graduations. Temple Beth Avodah is truly a place where everyone is welcome. It welcomes all to practice Judaism in their own way and lifts the spiritual soul.

KINDERGARTEN - GRADE 5

Our curriculum this year will continue with our values-based approach incorporating an innovative curriculum Passport to Peoplehood. This curriculum focuses on Jewish diversity, identity, and shared values as well as racial justice. Our educational experience for Kindergarten through Grade 5 emphasizes that our children and families are part of a larger multi-faceted world that can be supported and nurtured by Jewish values and experiences. We believe that creating a strong partnership with parents is a key element that leads to an enriching experience for students and families and invite you to contact us at any time.

GRADES 6 - 7

As our children enter grades 6 & 7, they embark on a period of transition from childhood to adolescence that is marked by celebrations and challenges. At TBA, we seek to support our students and their families as they move through these transitions by offering learning and social opportunities that nurture each child as individuals in a community.

GRADES 8 - 12

It is our goal at TBA that every teen continues to be involved in Jewish life after Bar/Bat Mitzvah in some way. Our community is a place where teens and their families should feel safe and valued at all times. We believe that being involved in Jewish life is not just another activity in your schedule, but it is a part of your identity. With this in mind, we have several paths for teens to take in order to continue to develop their Jewish identity and connection with the community. For some teens, just one of these programs may stand out; for others, there may be several that interest them. If you find that you or your teen were hoping for another option that is not offered, please do not hesitate to reach out and share your ideas. We look forward to connecting with you individually about what may be the best fit for involvement
