Summer Program

Each day you’ll rotate through activities and have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively, and inventing your own solutions to real-world challenges.

Theater Camp
Leaping Lizards! For the first time ever, Newton Community Ed is offering a 5-week musical theater camp. Join the ensemble of Annie Jr., and get ready for an amazing summer full of music, dance, acting, and more! Together we’ll build sets, play theater games, learn choreography, and sing our hearts out. This musical extravaganza will include dance parties, talent shows, swim time, weekly workshops with theater professionals, and creation of new camp traditions. We’ll rehearse group numbers and scenes with middle schoolers, and finish camp with a bang with three performances of a full-length musical. Join us to get your creative on and meet like-minded friends in a fun-packed experience towards Broadway and beyond.

Arts and Photography
Have some prior experience with watercolors and drawing and wish to develop as a watercolorist, join us. You'll learn design, composition, and watercolor technique through a series of weekly projects. Whether it’s winter, spring, summer, or fall, macro photography opens the door to an exciting world of photo opportunities. The close-up world is a magical place full of pattern, color, and imagery—flowers become abstract works of art, rusty doors become textured canvases, stones become polished gems, and butterflies and other insects become sci-fi monsters. Join us and learn different ways to use your camera gear to take spectacular macro photographs.
