At Charles River Recreation, we are committed to making outdoor recreation accessible and affordable for all members of the Boston-area community. Our company is home to three distinct recreational activities, each of which offers a unique experience. 

Charles River Canoe & Kayak provides access to canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. We offer sales, classes, guided trips, and multiple rental locations, so there is something for everyone. Weston Ski Track is located at the Leo J. Martin Golf Course in Weston and provides a great opportunity to learn or practice cross-country skiing on groomed, lighted trails. Finally, Kendall Square Community Ice Skating offers a refrigerated, Zamboni-maintained ice skating rink in Kendall Square, Cambridge. 

At Charles River Recreation, we believe in providing outdoor recreational activities in the Boston, Massachusetts metropolitan area that are affordable and accessible for everyone. Kids love stand-up paddleboarding! It’s easy to learn to paddleboard while playing games, splashing in the water, and having lots of fun.

All our classes emphasize safety on the water. We begin with an on-land introduction to equipment and basic paddle strokes. After that, we get on the boards to develop our skills while getting kids hooked on paddling.

From our selection of double kayaks, perfect for use with children, to our single kayaks specifically designed for kids, we have boats to allow the whole family to get out on the water. We also offer PFDs for all ages (infant to adult), kids paddles, paddling clothing from Kokatat, and wetsuits for kids so they can stay safe in cold water.

Kids' Kayak Class

Charles River Canoe & Kayak will create a customized birthday party for your child and friends. We can provide rentals of canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards, plus instruction, guiding, and catering to suit your tastes. We even have water cannons and ten-person canoes!
