At Newburyport Youth Services, we are dedicated to creating quality programs, events, and services for Greater Newburyport Area youth and families. We strive to provide these services in safe and supportive environments that foster growth, self-exploration, empowerment and community. Our mission is achieved through a commitment to positive youth development principles. We offer recreation programs, youth and family support services, and collaborate with community and regional partners to maximize positive outcomes for our youth. We are continually adapting to meet the needs of youth and families in our community, staying informed on current best practices and connecting with community partners to increase long-term, positive youth outcomes. Our efforts have resulted in countless stories of individual success, resilience, and support. We are proud to be a part of this positive change and look forward to continuing to serve the Greater Newburyport Area in this capacity.

BeAKid
Recreation and Enrichment Programs
At NYS, we provide year-round recreational programming to annually engage over 2,000 young people of all ages, backgrounds, interests, and abilities in a safe environment. Youth are encouraged to explore new topics and skills, step out of their comfort zones, and connect with others. Programs are designed to introduce young people to a variety of activities throughout the year, as well have opportunities to try new things, without long-term commitments. Knowing that when young people have interests that they are passionate about they are more likely to create constructive goals and make healthier life choices, NYS engages youth right from the beginning, offering programming for ages 0-18 years. Partnering with local businesses and community members enables NYS to offer expansive and diverse, age-appropriate programming including: Infant through pre-school activities such as, morning music classes, open gym, “Dads and Donuts”, and Saturday morning learn-to-play sports classes Arts, cooking, nature, creative, games, and STEM-based activities; team and individual sports, special outings, for school-age youth Certification classes, such as CPR, babysitting, and boating safety, and trips for older teens

Open Gym (Pre-school)
On weekday mornings, offers a safe indoor space for young children to explore with their peers, using age-appropriate equipment. Provides pre-schoolers and their parents/caretakers with a place get to know each other and to get to know NYS as a resource.

Teen Programs
Youth Council Youth Council is a youth-led group open to 7th-12th graders. The Council leads projects, campaigns, and events with the goal of improving the community for youth, including the creation of Newburyport’s Youth Bill of Rights and a youth suicide prevention campaign, It’s our 20%. Teen Trips NYS engages teens in discovering the world outside their local community with their peers. Day or overnight trips may include ski and surfing trips, museum days, community service, evenings at the theater, theme parks, hiking, and trips to New York City or Montreal. Service Trips For younger teens with their parents and older teens alone, NYS partners with non-profit organizations in other countries (e.g., Africa, Central America) to offer service trips. These trips, facilitate opportunities for young people to explore other cultures and ways of life, interact meaningfully with native residents of these regions, and understand similarities and differences between themselves and those they meet.
