About Berkshire County Intermediate Unit

The BCIU offers a wide variety of services that include alternative and special education, early intervention, and services to at-risk students and students with disabilities. BCIU also provides curriculum, instruction, and professional staff development services. Business and information management services, instructional media services, public relations services, and pupil transportation are also provided by the BCIU. All of these services are designed to help students succeed in school and beyond. The BCIU is committed to helping students, families, educators, and school districts. By providing these services, the BCIU is able to help create an environment where all students can reach their full potential. Head Start
The Berks County Head Start program is a comprehensive preschool program free of charge to qualifying families. The Berks County Head Start program services children ages three years through five years old. In order to qualify, families must meet the income guidelines established by the federal government. A family’s income must not exceed 100% of the federal poverty rate.

BCIU has partnered with the PA Office of Child Development and Early Learning and two Keystone STAR 4 Child Care providers to offer high quality, comprehensive, early head start services.

EARLY INTERVENTION
Preschool Early Intervention in Pennsylvania consists of services and supports designed to help families with children ages 3 to 5 who have developmental delays. It is a process that promotes collaboration among parents, caregivers, service providers, and others significantly involved with your child.
