    About Southwick's Zoo, More than a Zoo in Mendon, MA

    Southwick's Zoo is a family-friendly experience located in the beautiful Blackstone River Valley. Just minutes away from Routes 495 and 146, Southwick's Zoo offers a full day of fun and exploration. With over 200 acres of land, Southwick's Zoo is New England's largest zoological experience, home to more than 850 animals, including lions, tigers, giraffes, chimpanzees, two-toed sloths, and more. Visitors to Southwick's Zoo can enjoy a variety of attractions, including the Skyfari Sky Ride, Woodland Express Train, Soaring Eagle Zip Line, Deer Forest, petting zoo, walk-through aviary, the Rainforest Adventure Maze, and the EARTH Discovery Center.     ZooMobile Program

    A ZooMobile is an educational program that involves an educator and some of our animal ambassadors traveling to a school, library, or other facility. Programs cover a range of topics about animal ecology, behavior, and conservation. See “Presentation Descriptions & Pricing” below for more information.

    Summer Wild Adventure Programs

    Learning meets fun with our Wild Adventure Summer Programs! We offer program sessions for the following grade levels: K-2, 2 & 3, 4-6, and 7-10. Our young adventurers will explore the zoo and learn through a variety of hands on activities such as games, crafts, and even meeting some of our animals up close and personal. All Wild Adventure students also get to tie-dye their own t-shirt.

    Rhino Encounters

    Rhino encounters last about an hour in total. Participants will first watch a brief video in our EARTH Discovery Center about rhinoceros conservation. After this video, participants are brought to the encounter area where they get to meet and touch the zoo’s white rhinos, Thelma and Louise!
