Thirty years ago, Marietta Phinney saw a need for more arts education in the Readville neighborhood of Hyde Park. Guided by her dedication, she created Riverside Theatre Works in her backyard. With her motto, “Only those who see the invisible can do the impossible,” Ms. Phinney’s dedication has kept Riverside alive and thriving for three decades. Riverside Theatre Works provides high-quality productions, musical theater training, and community outreach. It is a safe haven and home away from home for its students. Many alumni have gone on to find success on Broadway, on national tours, and throughout the Boston area. They return to Riverside to sing, dance, teach, and inspire the next generation of performers. Marietta Phinney’s vision has had a lasting impact for the Readville neighborhood. With her dedication and commitment, she has created a legacy of arts education that has enabled countless students to explore their creativity and find success.
