At the Hull Lifesaving Museum, we understand how important it is to provide a safe and supportive environment for our community. Our mission is to celebrate the lifesaving spirit of Skills, Courage, and Caring, and to instill the relevance of our history to our constituents' daily lives. Since 1978, we have been teaching our community about our maritime heritage and providing life-changing and sometimes life-saving youth development experiences. Our team is dedicated to providing our participants with the opportunity to draw the best from themselves by combining social services and experiential education with historical preservation and interpretation. Through our year-round education and recreation programs, we have been providing a diverse constituency, 75% of whom are underserved youth from metropolitan Boston, with best practice models and a respectful environment tailored to each participant's needs, expectations, and skill level.

Point Allerton US Lifesaving Station Interactive Tours Point Allerton U.S. Lifesaving Station, constructed in 1889, was home to Captain Joshua James and his crew, America's greatest lifesavers, renowned for saving hundreds of shipwrecked mariners from peril in Boston Harbor. The tour begins with a brief history of organized lifesaving, emphasizing the contributions of volunteer lifesavers, continues onto the Galley where children learn about daily life at the station, then, onto the Boat Room to see the treasure of the museum collection - the storied surfboat Nantasket.

"CROSSROADS" UPCOMING LECTURES & WALKING TOURS

Get ready for Hull’s Hills and Architectural Thrills led by architect Bob Pahl. Join us as we explore the architecture of Hull Village, one of the oldest communities on the South Shore. Throughout its settled history, beautiful homes have been designed and built. Many of these stately homes are now off the beaten path as the main roads were built for expediency, by-passing these gems. We’ll examine buildings stretching from the Colonial era through to the Contemporary; discussing the unique expression of familiar styles in this remote fishing village.
