About Riverfront Children's Theatre

Riverfront Family Theatre (RFT) was founded in 2011 by Sally and Janet Cragin. Initially, the Cragins offered multi-week theatre workshops for children aged four through teens, which ended in a public performance. Parents looking to give their children hands-on theatre experience can rest easy knowing that no fees are charged for participation thanks to RFT's 2013 partnership with Fitchburg Public Library. RFT's commitment to theatre education doesn't end there; the organization has expanded its offerings to include a regular theatre program at the Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster, and has also brought theatre programs to libraries in New England. To take these efforts even further, RFT also offers an apprentice program for area youth periodically. To top it all off, RFT is a 501(c)3 organization partnered with Operation Service. Parents looking to introduce their children to the world of theatre need look no further than Riverfront Family Theatre. With a mission to provide accessible theatre education to children throughout New England, RFT has a variety of theatre programs to choose from. From multi-week workshops to apprenticeships, parents can rest assured knowing their children are receiving quality theatre education, free of charge.

IMPROVAGANZA!

Performing arts workshop focussed on improv, pantomime, storytelling, character-development, voice-work (everyone loves accents!) with costumes, props, and even a sword-fighting experience (hint: we use large plastic crayons!). All of our materials are washed, wiped and disinfected between sessions. 90 minutes, age 7 and up.

PICNIC PUPPETS

Make puppets out of styrofoam cups, plastic forks and spoons, and various recycled materials. 90 minute workshop includes time to put on a show (each child can make two or more puppets). 90 minutes, age 8 and up, younger children should be accompanied by an adult.

THREE STRING MARIONETTES

We bring premade bodies, and participants get to decorate their characters with a variety of fabric, ribbons, and notions. Puppets will then be strung to fit the young puppeteer. 90 minute workshop includes time to put on a show. 90 minutes, age 8 and up, younger children should be accompanied by an adult.
