Community Action Programs, Inter City, Inc. (CAPIC) was established in 1967 to combat poverty in Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop. The organization is overseen by a twenty one member Board of Directors made up of individuals from public, private, and low-income sectors of the local area. CAPIC's housing services are available to the residents of East Boston through their local program, and twenty-five other communities regionally, as well as Weatherization services to eighteen local communities. CAPIC's mission is to promote self-sufficiency and provide assistance to those who are economically and emotionally struggling. Since its founding, CAPIC has adapted to the changing needs of the communities they serve and have continued to provide essential services to those in need. With the help of the Board of Directors and local partnerships, CAPIC is helping to make a difference in the fight against poverty.
