About Our Bright Future Inc. in Southbridge, MA
Our Bright Future is a 501(c)3 organization that was established on October 27th, 2016. Our mission is to empower youth and develop bright leaders through robotics, 3D printing, sports training, and guidance in academics. We incorporate core values such as education, empowerment, discipline, leadership, diversity, and respect into our daily programs to help students shape futures into bright ones. In our Academic program, students have the opportunity to finish all homework, projects, and to study for any upcoming exams. Students are assisted by volunteers from local high schools, colleges, and trained staff. When students are done fulfilling their academic needs, they are divided into groups to participate in activities such as robotics, sports, and arts and crafts. With a recent partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, we are excited to add Mentorship.

BeAKid
STEMing into Sports Summer Program
The purpose of Our Bright Future STEMing into Sports Program is to provide Robotics, 3D printing, and Sports for youth ages 9 years old to 17 years old in a safe, caring, and supportive environment at Nichols College Campus in Dudley, MA. Our Bright Future is structured to develop and implement programs and activities that prepare youth for success. Members are encouraged to participate in all 5 core areas of programming: Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, Sports & Fitness, and Recreation. Children within Our Bright Future STEMing into Sports Program receive the benefits of a structured child care program within a full-functioning safe environment.

Robotics
Our Bright Future Inc. uses LEGO MINDSTORM Core EV3 kits for students. LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Software focuses primarily on engineering, technology, and computer science. However, it also provides an opportunity to integrate cross-curricular activities, such as science and mathematics, when students complete the challenges. The engaging and motivating nature of the EV3 Software enables students to construct and program, as well as provide them with the scope to experiment, without prior knowledge or experience around programming or building. The hands-on Challenge approach, which provides a simple method of observing a robot’s ability or failure to complete a task is an effective way of challenging a student’s problem- solving skills and integrating student and teacher assessment tools.

Arts & Crafts
Once homework is complete, students have an opportunity to work on some crafting! Our projects help students develop their fine and gross motor skills. Some crafts that the students enjoy is weaving, making dream catchers, paper plate animals, rainmakers, flour squeeze balls, and more!
