About Boston Flute Academy in Brookline, MA

Our innovative programming provides an environment to support, stimulate, and inspire all New England flutists. We offer an array of choices for both experienced and emerging flutists. BFA’s annual Festival of Flutes is a premier event in New England for flutists of all levels, from professional to novice. We also provide on-site flute classes for students of all ages, from first-time learners to advanced players. The BFA Flute Institute offers a unique experience for flutists of all backgrounds to come together and share their love of the flute. It is our goal to ensure that every flutist has the opportunity to explore and develop their skills. At BFA, we believe in the power of music education and recognize the importance of providing educational opportunities for flute players of all levels and interests. Our instructors have the experience and knowledge to provide young flutists aspiring for professional careers with intensive training in a nurturing environment. We strive to provide guidance and mentorship for those looking to fine-tune their skills and reach a higher level of musicianship. Our programs are designed to give each flutist the chance to develop their potential and achieve their dreams.

Programs at Boston Flute Academy in Brookline, MA

BeAKid
Repertory Program

The Repertory Program is for motivated flute students seeking advanced study. The primary aim is to prepare students for Boston-area youth orchestra and wind ensemble auditions. The Repertory Program also provides the foundation for study in the BFA Conservatory Program. Most students are in Grades 7-9. Space is limited.

Preparatory Program

The Preparatory Program offers accelerated flute study for young students who love to play. Providing an inspiring setting for musical growth, the Preparatory Program also prepares students for study in the BFA Repertory Program and beyond. Most students are in Grades 4-6. Space is limited.

Private Lessons

For private lessons at BFA, students can choose between two different tracks: Accelerated Studies – for students interested in pursuing a career in music or in taking advanced auditions for local youth orchestras, such as BYSO, MYWE, NEC YPO, or All Districts and All State auditions General Studies – for students of all levels who would like to progress at their own pace, while still receiving the finest flute instruction Students enrolled in private lessons at BFA have the opportunity to attend private recitals and masterclasses with world class guest artists, perform onstage in practice recitals and formal concerts, be inspired by flutists of all levels (from novice to professional), take part in the mentoring program, and attend special classes and workshops designed with the flutist in mind. BFA provides flutists access to a vibrant flute community, an environment which both inspires and motivates our students.
