About Soldiers Field Park Children's Center Corporation in Boston, MA
At our school we have a developmental approach to learning. We understand that each child is unique and progresses at their own pace. We ensure that children are exposed to a range of activities and experiences appropriate to their individual needs, while instilling a love for learning. We don’t focus on the end product, but rather on the learning process itself.
We also pay close attention to children’s social and emotional development. We strive to recognize each child’s individuality, and encourage them to feel pride in their accomplishments and appreciate the achievements of others. We help children to become aware of their place in the world and to learn how to work together with others. Through these activities, we are able to provide children with a positive self-image and the confidence to face the world.

Infant 1/Infant 2
Our infant program seeks to provide the safest environment that is stimulating and challenging for our infants to grow together while meeting all of their individual developmental needs. We enroll up to 14 infants combined in the Infant 1 and Infant 2 classes, under the guidance of four teachers in each classroom. The two classes develop together in adjoining spaces. Our daily schedule gives our infants flexibility in a wide variety of activities while having the comfort of routine.
Our infants change a lot during their time in the infant classroom, and our priority is to make all of the developmental milestones easy transitions for both the child and parent. Throughout the year, we re-arrange the infant space according to the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of the children in order to challenge them as best we can. Every day we provide changing sources of stimuli in each classroom to encourage our infants to explore and learn through play.

Infant Toddler/Toddler 1
Helping Toddlers explore and order their expanding sense of the world and their place in it is what the Infant/Toddler and Toddler 1 experience is all about. The seven Infant/Toddlers and nine Toddler 1 children develop under the guidance of four full-time teachers in each classroom.
Language development and emotional awareness are key aspects of this year. Strides in both fine and gross motor development are also evident as the children master walking and running and gain control in their motor tasks. Their communication skills are expanding, enabling them to better use words to convey their needs and express their emotions.

Preschool 1
Preschool 1 builds on the increased sense of independence that children are experiencing at this stage of their development. Our class size grows to 17 children, with four teachers and one teaching assistant. A number of new children join the class in Preschool 1, making the transition from toddler to preschool an exciting one.
“Dramatic play” becomes a predominant and popular area in the Preschool 1 classroom, as children start to knowingly engage each other in cooperative play. As their language abilities broaden, they fully grasp the difference between “pretend” and reality” and are able to move more readily between fantasy and real life situations. Every day, children are encouraged to role play different personas—storekeeper, astronaut, parent, firefighter– within this safe environment, further strengthening their communication skills as well as their creativity.
