Youth Performing Arts Program
Our Performing Arts Program (PAP) provides an in-depth, interdisciplinary learning experience to young dancers ages 4 to 18. From the start of their training, students are introduced to dance practice with an equal emphasis on technical development as well as artistic exploration. Summer Intensive
This week-long program is dedicated to exploring rhythm in dance and music. Introductory classes in drumming, tap, body music and African dance will teach students the importance of rhythm in culture and technique, how to listen for rhythm, and how to create it. Students will be guided to observe and discuss the rhythms they hear, see, and feel, around the studio and in the world around them. A daily body music class will use these observations as inspiration and teach choreographic tools to develop movement and artistic voice.
