Youth Performing Arts Program

Our Performing Arts Program (PAP) provides an in-depth, interdisciplinary learning experience to young dancers ages 4 to 18. From the start of their training, students are introduced to dance practice with an equal emphasis on technical development as well as artistic exploration. As they progress in age and level, a comprehensive curriculum encourages students to expand their creative language while challenging their intellectual, technical, and artistic abilities.

Summer Intensive

This week-long program is dedicated to exploring rhythm in dance and music. Introductory classes in drumming, tap, body music and African dance will teach students the importance of rhythm in culture and technique, how to listen for rhythm, and how to create it. Students will be guided to observe and discuss the rhythms they hear, see, and feel, around the studio and in the world around them. A daily body music class will use these observations as inspiration and teach choreographic tools to develop movement and artistic voice. Program culminates with an informal sharing for families on the last day.

Young Choreographers Program

Young Choreographers Workshop (YCW) and Initiative (YCI) were established in 2016 as a platform for students, ages 13-21, to create works that give voice to the issues affecting their generation, connect with community members outside of Pulse, and address important topics such as anxiety, body image, and isolation.
