She’s got a hairdo as big as her personality, and a cheerleader's spirit brighter than the Hoosier state's sunflowers. Now, picture her leading a cheer with an energy that could light up the Indianapolis Speedway. “I-N-D-I-A-N-A, GOOO Indiana!” she shouts, while performing a cartwheel that threatens to send her bouncing off into space. These cheerleading kids from Indiana aren't just your typical pom-pom shakers. They’re a spring-loaded, backflipping, high-fiving unit of unstoppable enthusiasm. They practice their cheers in barns, in cornfields, at the edge of the Great Lakes, and sometimes even on top of their school buses, just for the fun of it. When they're not cheerleading, you might find them slurping down corn on the cob at a state fair, or having humorous debates over which is better, basketball or cornhole? Of course, basketball usually wins. After all, this is Indiana, the kingdom of hoops! But, back to our cheerleading squad. Their spirit is infectious. They can turn a dreary day into a lively parade with just a flick of their pompoms. They're a testament to the spirit of Indiana – full of energy, fun, and a bit of corn-fed silliness. Camp Erin® Boston is a FREE bereavement camp for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Traditionally a weekend long program, for 2021-2022, children and teens ages 6 to 17 and their families attend a one-day family camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, campers are provided a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills, and make friends with peers who are also grieving.
