About Modern Arnis Academy

At the Modern Arnis Academy, children and adults alike can learn the art of Modern Arnis. This Filipino martial art is taught by Chief instructor Ken Smith, a distinguished inheritor of the art. All classes are held at the dojo, providing a safe and encouraging environment for students of all ages and abilities. Parents will be pleased to hear that the Modern Arnis Academy offers a great way for their children to learn a unique martial art that is both physical and mental. Chief instructor Ken Smith is proud to share the Filipino art of Modern Arnis with the next generation. Young people of all ages and abilities are welcome to join in the classes held at the dojo. The Modern Arnis Academy is a great opportunity for adults to learn a new skill or to get fit. Chief instructor Ken Smith will introduce students to the Filipino art of Modern Arnis, while providing a safe and encouraging environment at the dojo. Modern Arnis Training System
Modern Arnis Training System is a program designed to be both a certification system for instructors and a belt ranking system for their students. Many karate school owners and their black belts start in Modern Arnis because they are looking for a way to enhance their training or incorporate weapons into their curriculum. School owners and black belts training for their teacher certification while working towards their M.A.T.S. ranks. With this in mind, Master Ken Smith created a modular program to address this need.

Youth Beginner Class (5 to 12)
The Youth Beginners class is tailored for children between the ages of 5 to 12. In this system, your child will learn the essential fundamentals of self-defense, basic karate moves, and kicking. Your child will learn important ideas about self-awareness, safety, and dealing with bullies.
