About Lions Cheer Company

In 2000, Victory Academy Lions opened its doors and became one of the first All Star cheer teams in the state of Illinois. With just two teams in the beginning, the program quickly grew in popularity and added more and more teams to meet the demand. After 13 successful seasons at Victory Academy, the organization moved to Gymnastics Etc. in Bloomington and the Lions Cheer Company name was born. In December 2017, Jen Nettleton, the program director for over 16 years, retired and Amanda Wait, a former athlete, took her place. The Lions Cheer Company continues to grow and provide quality All Star cheer teams and class programs to the Central Illinois community. After 20 years of service, the Lions Cheer Company is now the longest running All Star program in the entire state of Illinois.

Tiny Cheer Tumbling

Athletes ages 3-5 can enroll in Tiny Cheer Tumbling, which is designed for our youngest cheer athletes to start developing their strength and coordination to assist in their tumbling skills. Athletes will use drills and stations to learn the body shapes and fundamental movements required for tumbling. Basic level 1 skills will be taught, such as forward/backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, table tops, and bridges/back bends (5 year olds only).

Flyer Training

In our Flyer Training classes, we will utilize drills and exercises to improve each athlete's confidence and overall abilities as a flyer. We will focus on proper body alignment, awareness, control, flexibility, and performance. Stunting elements, such as twisting skills, tic tocs, and switch ups will be taught at ground level to prepare them to utilize those skills in the air on their teams. All body positions will be covered, including liberty, heel stretch, front stretch, bow and arrow, scorpion, scale, and arabesque. These classes are offered on weeknights and are 30 minutes in length. Athletes must be age 6 or older and must have previous cheer experience, but flying experience is not required. You can enroll anytime, as long as there is an opening in the class.

Cheer All Star Athlete

In our All Star Athlete class, we provide a combination of flexibility, strength, and jumps training that will help them become a better overall athlete in order to have the greatest impact on their LCC all star teams and continue to grow and excel individually. The stronger they are, the better they will be able to perform the skills of the sport and the quicker they will advance their skills! Be prepared to come to WORK HARD! These classes are offered on weeknights and are 30 minutes in length. Athletes must be age 7 or older and actively on one of our LCC all star cheer teams. You can enroll anytime, as long as there is an opening in the class.
