Camp Crystal Lake has been providing an unforgettable outdoor experience for Alachua County students since 1948. With 140 wooded acres in north central Florida, the School Board of Alachua County owns and operates the camp. Kids who visit can enjoy three crystal-clear lakes, natural Florida ecosystems, and a mix of modern and historic facilities. No matter the age, Camp Crystal Lake offers generations of students the opportunity to make lasting memories.
At our residential summer camp, co-ed students from 2nd grade through 9th grade are invited to join us for a one or two-week session. Focusing on our core values of fun, family, and fellowship, we create an unforgettable experience each session for campers and counselors alike. At camp, we make more than lanyards and s’mores–we make lifelong friends and memories while challenging ourselves to learn new skills each day.
Our exceptional staff creates a safe, playful environment where kids get to face their fears, try new things, build relationships, and gain independence. When a camper arrives at their cabin and meets their counselors for the first time, they become a part of our camp family for life. At Camp Crystal, we emphasize the importance of “leaving your cool at the gate” so campers feel free to be themselves and discover the best version of themselves.

Camp Hazelnut
The Camp Hazelnut goal is simple: create a playful, safe, uplifting experience for kids and families navigating the overwhelming challenges of a cancer diagnosis … a place to simply get away and come together. The campers embark on a great exploration to discover (or rediscover!) the magic that can only be created at summer camp, and the band is right there alongside them every step of the way, leading activities, playing acoustic campfire sing-alongs, sharing, giggling, and having a blast.
Camp Hazelnut is financially supported through the band’s Lyrics for Life 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. Ken Block and his band mates founded Lyrics for Life in memory of Ken’s younger brother Jeffrey, who ultimately lost his four-year battle with cancer as a teenager and changed a lot of lives.

Outdoor Education Center
For over 70 years, the students, teachers and parents from Alachua County schools have had the opportunity to learn in a “classroom without walls” at the Camp Crystal Lake School Year Program. It is our goal to create an experiential environment where 2nd and 5th grade students are able to develop an appreciation, knowledge and understanding of North Central Florida’s ecosystems. Students will also have the opportunity to experience community learning and team building. Our dedicated teachers have previously taught in the School Board of Alachua County and maintain current teaching certification, lifeguard certification, and a CDL to drive the bus.
