About Clark's Self Defense, Sarasota in Sarasota, FL
William K. S. Chow, a Chinese immigrant to the United States, brought this unique style of Kenpo to America in 1949. He taught his style of Kenpo Karate to his student, Ed Parker, from 1956 until 1961. Ed Parker, who later became known as the "father of American Kenpo," was the first martial artist to openly teach Kenpo Karate in the United States. Thanks to his efforts, Kenpo Karate has become one of the most popular self-defense systems in the United States and across the globe.

Kid's Self Defense Classes
Our Karate classes for kids offer traditional Kempo Karate training that includes strikes, kicks, blocks, forms, sparring, grappling and Okinawan weapons. We use standard Kempo belt ranking system to help children set and reach their goals. In addition to Kempo Karate, kids learn self defense and how to escape different grabs and holds. We give our students a well rounded Martial Arts and Self Defense education.

The Gracie Bullyproof Program
Teaching a child jiu-jitsu without teaching them when to use it, is akin to giving someone a gun without teaching them how to use it. Gracie Bullyproof is the only kid’s jiu-jitsu program that actually teaches children precisely when they can, and cannot, use the techniques they are learning. The five "Rules of Engagement" are regularly rehearsed in class so that children will never abuse their power and, equally important, they will not hesitate to take a stand when abused by bullies.

After School Program
Clark's Self Defense offers transportation from your child's school to our Blaikie Court location where they can stay until 6:30. Its convenient, fun, and affordable! When you enroll your child at Clark's Self Defense After School program, they will develop important life skills like respect and discipline. They will improve their motor skills and coordination with our daily Self Defense classes. Watch them grow stronger, healthier, and more confident throughout the year.
