About ALSO Youth

Parents Magazine is proud to recognize ALSO Youth, an organization that has been working to support the mental health of LGBTQ+ teens since 1992. The organization was created in response to the alarming suicide rates among these youth, and has worked in cooperation with other local organizations such as PFLAG, Planned Parenthood, and YMCA Youth and Family Services. Volunteers were recruited to conduct a support group for Sarasota area youth and contact with school officials was initiated to create training programs for educators. Since then, the types of services and numbers of people served by ALSO have steadily increased. We recognize their dedication to the well-being of LGBTQ+ youth and applaud their efforts to create a safe and supportive environment for them in the community.

ALSO, Jr.

The ALSO, Jr. program is a great place to meet other LGBTQ+ youth and allies who understand what you're going through. You can come to the ALSO Youth center to hang out, participate in programming, and make great friends. ALSO Youth offers a safe space for you to be yourself without the fear of being judged!

Youth Centers

This centers are dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ youth in our community. We offer a variety of resources and programs, including support groups, social activities, and educational workshops. Our goal is to help LGBTQ+ youth build self-esteem and create positive relationships with others. We hope you will visit us soon and take advantage of this supportive and outstanding community that will help you find the space for you to grow!

ALSO Prom

ALSO Prom is an annual high school prom for LGBTQ+ youth, friends, and allies (ages 14-20) Our attendees feel accepted, affirmed, and celebrated! Last year's prom theme was One Magical Night! We dressed in our favorite cottage core fits and enjoyed the night!
