About National Flight Academy in Pensacola, FL

. The National Flight Academy, LLC is a subsidiary of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, offering an educational experience for students to gain knowledge in STEM-related topics. The Academy is authorized by the United States Navy, though not endorsed or financially supported. The Academy’s mission is to inspire students to pursue the more challenging courses in STEM when they return to their parent schools. Disciplines such as aerodynamics, propulsion, navigation, communications, flight physiology and meteorology are taught to students, along with the core values of teamwork and leadership skills development. This is a great opportunity for students to expand their knowledge in STEM-related topics.

Our flagship program blends the culture and excitement of aviation with 21st century technology and core competencies in an exclusive, entertaining and engaging immersive environment to provide a best in the world learning adventure. Students who have completed 6th grade but have not yet graduated high school live for six days in a multi-story structure.

CRUISES

Cruises are designed for students 5th-12th grade as an introduction to the National Flight Academy’s flagship, Deployment program. For three days, students stay overnight and are exposed to a variety of concepts including Meteorology, Aerodynamics, Mathematics, Bathymetry, Physics, Basics of Flight, Ballistics and Search and Rescue fundamentals.

ADVENTURES

Adventures are a unique, one day opportunity which introduces students in grades 4-12 to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills. Topics include drones, hurricanes and tsunamis. During an Adventure, students enjoy lunch on the mess deck and fly the X-12B Triad, the National Flight Academy’s experimental aircraft. There is a requirement of 36 participants per weekend session; however, for small groups, multiple parties may make up the 36. Participants must be currently in grades 4-12. Mini-mission Adventures designed to expose students to various STEM topics in a hands-on setting are available for students in grades 4 and up. For grades 5-12, all missions/lessons are mapped to Florida and National educational standards and delivered in a new and exciting context created to inspire students to achieve in STEM. Upon arrival youth will be paired up with “Flight Partners” and then formed into Squadrons of similar age bracket.
